Rods with straight or helical openings on them are called <strong>rack and pinion gears <\/strong>. Opposite these gears is usually a small cylindrical gear, called a pinion.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">  For the desired smoothness and silence during the operation of the rack and pinion, the gears must be helical, spiral and straight. In addition, <strong>rack and pinion gears<\/strong> are used together with a gear called a pawn, forming a gear pair.
